Réjean Frenette
Profile
At the conclusion of a distinguished diplomatic career, Réjean comes to the BDA Foundation after working in many developing countries such as Iran, Malaysia, and DRCongo where he was Ambassador ( also covering Burundi and Rwanda) , followed by a posting as Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria. He also served in the United States, Germany, France and Switzerland where he was Ambassador for four years. He ended his government service as Director General of the Canadian department of industry, Industry Canada, in the province of Québec. He was president and founder of Canavence, Inc, an international consulting group in the field of the environment. While in Congo (Zaïre, at the time) he met extensively with political and business leaders. His frequent travel in the country allowed him to gain first-hand knowledge of the rural populations, their needs and aspirations as well as develop a close rapport with the many religious communities serving the people. His deep interest in helping the African populations develop their rich potential by ensuring a regular source of income while protecting their own environment encourages him to devote his energies to the cause of the Foundation.
